Office Astrology: What Does Your Sign Say About You in the Workplace?

I'm no astronomer, but I know my way around an astrological wheel and have always enjoyed using the zodiac to better understand those around me. Here's a quick (and fun!) glimpse at what you might expect from your co-workers based on their birthdate. Helpful hint for those of you born on a cusp as I was: check out both signs because you are probably a combination of both! 

Aries (Mar 21 - Apr 20) Like most firstborn children, those born under the first sign in the zodiac like to be the boss. Aries are fiery, strong, and fiercely independent. If you need to make a big sales pitch, send your Ram to do the job, because they won’t take no for an answer... and are probs more than willing to headbutt anyone who stands in their way.

Taurus (Apr 21 - May 21): Bulls have an amazing work ethic (second only to goats) and know how to get the job done. If you can drag them away from the job site, you’ll also find that they are good conversationalists and know where all the best restaurants are... because although they work hard for their money, they also know how to play hard, and spend what free time they do allow themselves enjoying the finer things in life.

Gemini (May 22 - Jun 21): No one has more charm and wit (or better communication skills) than a Gemini... and the combination of these three superpowers gives them the ability make even the most stultifying staff meeting entertaining. Geminis put the FUN in any work function. If they can stop talking to their officemates long enough to focus on the task at hand, they are capable of delivering magical results on the job.

Cancer (Jun 22 - Jul 22): A tad overly sensitive (constructive criticism may leave them in tears), Cancer employees are extremely loyal and make excellent worker bees. They would never stage a hostile takeover, and (because they have no need to be in the limelight), are generally happy to work behind the scenes or, better yet, from home.

Leo (Jul 23 - Aug 22): Regal, confident and just plain fabulous, Leos make any job look effortless and always dress the part. Office life hack for handling Leo employees: a few compliments will go a long way and push the Lion’s productivity into overdrive. Just make sure the praise is sincere... a Leo can smell a phony a mile away.

Virgo (Aug 23 - Sep 22):  Virgos can and will get sh*t done... but make no mistake, the sh*t must be done their way. Known for their confidence and precision (precision that borders on OCD), Virgos are willing to clean house both literally and figuratively; they will have (hands down!) the cleanest desk, and are able to put sloppy sentiment aside and fire any slackers.

Libra (Sep 23 - Oct 22): As long as the scales remain balanced, the über organized Libra is highly effective enough to make Steven Covey himself proud. They are also quite adept at charming potential clients and customers. Only their trademark indecision (or the opportunity to glance admiringly in  the mirror) can sidetrack a Libra from their chosen professional mission. 

Scorpio (Oct 23 - Nov 22): No one ever really knows exactly what their Scorpio co-worker does (nor how they do it), and they use this same air of mystery to captivate the entire office. A word of warning: Never cross a Scorp or waste your time trying to crack their secret code, because they won't waste any time making you wish you hadn't.

Sagittarius (Nov 23 - Dec 22): If they are not the boss, they want to be (and quite possibly should be). Born storytellers who excel at public speaking, they usually steal the show, whether it’s in the board room or at happy hour. They also excel at speaking the truth, so don't ask for their honest opinion unless you can handle it!

Capricorn (Dec 23 - Jan 21): If there is a workaholic in your office, chances are they were born under the sign of the Goat. Caps are such hard workers and perfectionists that they may come off as a tad tough to work for or with... but in truth they are their own worst critics and much tougher on themselves than others. Bottom line, they set the bar high for themselves and expect the same excellence from those around them!

Aquarius (Jan 22 - Feb 18): Aquarians are an asset in any office, mainly because they work and play so well with others. They do their own thing quite well, give zero what others are doing, and would never waste their time spreading gossip. Their innate sense of diplomacy will also help diffuse any office drama stirred up by other less discerning (snarkier) signs.

Pisces (Feb 19 - Mar 20): On good days, the Pisces employee is a straight up ray of sunshine to everyone they encounter, putting so much energy and heart into their job that they practically sweat glitter. On bad days (when they let their emotions take over their intellect), you are likely to find them weeping under their desk, replaying what they would, could or should have said to make Karen in accounting’s day better yesterday.
