Large Group Readings: What to Expect from an Evening with Spirit

Large group readings, which involve an audience of twenty-five or more, are no different in format and content than smaller groups of ten or fewer, except that your odds of receiving a message goes down in direct relation to how many participants there are. They last between ninety minutes and two hours, during which time I connect with Spirit and deliver as many messages from the Other Side as possible. While smaller groups take place in someone's home, larger group readings are usually conducted in restaurants, hotels and other public venues, in order to accommodate more guests. I particularly enjoy group events that are hosted at restaurants because they are more intimate, and people tend to be more relaxed and open when food is involved. I always stipulate that there be little to no alcohol involved, however, because spirits and Spirits do not mix. A cocktail or two might relax the more nervous participants, but everyone must be mentally sharp and lucid enough to interpret any messages that Spirit sends their way. I ask that everyone be comfortably seated and able to quietly focus while I tune in and receive messages from Above.

Please note that all large group readings are conducted gallery-style, which means that I read the entire group as a whole, at the same time, moving from person to person or table to table as Spirit directs me. I am not available for hire as a novelty act like some fortune telling clown at a child’s birthday party. If you are looking for someone to set up shop in a corner and read for random curious guests, please look elsewhere. I was once, unknowingly, booked to do just that and I found it not only insulting (one tipsy guest loudly proclaimed to each of his passing friends that he was getting his fortune told), but a less than optimal use of the fee that the hosts paid because the loose structure of the event did not allow the clients to get as much as they could have for their money (I wasn’t able to reach as many guests as I normally do). The hosts were lovely people and I did the best that I could to make the most of the situation, but they had very little understanding of what I do and very different expectations than others I had worked with in the past. If you are considering hiring me for a large group event, please understand that I expect all participants to either be interested in hearing from loved ones in the Spirit World or supporting another guest who is there for that reason. Ever since that event, I am quite careful to make the reading format and expectations clear before any contracts are signed.

As is the case with any reading, in order to get the most out of participating in a larger group, it is important to have realistic expectations. The harsh reality is that the more people present, the less likely it is that each participant will receive an individual message. With that in mind, if you have your heart set on getting one-on-one time with a medium, you should opt for a private or small group reading. If, however, you simply want to dip your toes into the world of mediumship, a group event is a great place to get your feet wet or simply become more informed by witnessing communication with the Spirit World live.

No matter how many group readings I do, I am always amazed by the synchronicities (aka crazy coincidences) that occur throughout. It is especially important to pay close attention and appreciate this phenomena during a large group reading because this is Spirit's way of killing two birds with one stone, or giving you more bang for your buck. I might be delivering a message to the person sitting next to you, whose father’s name was Jim and died of lung cancer, which just happens to be your father or grandfather’s name and exact cause of death. This is no coincidence. It is safe to assume that the Universe lined this up so that you would both recognize that both your father figures were present and communicating through me. Sometimes it will be an insanely random but salient detail that is significant to two or more people. I once heard the word CHICA clairaudiently during a large event. The person I was addressing had a parrot named Chico. When they first got the parrot, they were told it was a male, but had recently found out that it was a female and had renamed their feather baby "Chica." As they were explaining this, the person next to them piped up to say, "Chica also means something to me. That was my Latina grandmother's nickname for me." Following her remark, her loving Abuelita followed up with another message before I was interrupted by the next Spirit in line. These commonalities and links often act as a segue from one one loving Spirit to the next, so don’t be afraid to chime in if you recognize that a message may be meant for you as well.

The format of a Haunted History Tour is a bit different than a standard large group reading. We usually start with a tour of the property, during which time I share what I pick up about any Spirits associated with the location. Family members of those in the group often pop in with messages during the tour, unless we have planned a short gallery reading following the walking tour. If that is the case, messages from your loved ones will be delivered once everyone is seated, like the group readings described earlier. I do my best to have signed copies of my book, Madame Medium: Unleash Your Inner Psychic with a French Teacher Turned Psychic Medium, available for sale at all events for anyone interested in better understanding the Spirit World or developing their own gifts.

As I shared earlier, the format and general content of any reading is the same, so if you would like to get a better idea of how I communicate with Spirit and what to expect in terms of details and how the personality of those on the Other Side affect a reading, please read the related blog posts linked below.
